Committed to highlighting an awkward relationship between humans and the natural world, my work plays with the remnants and detritus of myth and religion.
Inspired by our natural and ongoing appetite for wonder, represented by the prominence of conjurers, supernaturalists, faith healers and astrologers within popular culture. My work plays with our faithfulness to reason, combining a curious mix of elegance and humour, depicting bizarre narrative scenes, mythical monsters and an overarching feeling of day-to-day drudgery.
I paint people, animals and technology, but mostly I focus on those in between creatures that defy categorisation. Charged with metaphorical possibilities, my paintings are ideas, ideas about motifs that at the end of the day seek to be unclassified.
